The unincorporated community of Afton, VA, straddles both Albemarle and Nelson counties. This green, tree-filled area sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains about 20 miles west of Charlottesville, close to Interstate 64.
Various wineries and breweries are based around Afton, including Veritas Vineyard and Winery, as well as the Blue Mountain Brewery. Also located here is Cardinal Point Vineyard and Winery, known as the producer of IPC, the world’s first hopped chardonnay. CSA Shows is an event venue located in town, and Wayfarer Forge serves as Afton’s local blacksmith, both businesses close to the Blueridge Trail and Tunnel. Afton also offers easy access to Rockfish Gap Turnpike.
