White Hall, VA

The unincorporated community of White Hall, VA, is located in Albemarle County. This open, rural area is centered about 15 miles northwest of Charlottesville at the intersection of Garth Road and Browns Gap Turnpike.

In its early years, White Hall was an election precinct known by several names, including Glenn’s Store, William Maupin’s Store, Maupin’s Tavern and Shumate’s Tavern. The present name of White Hall was then established in 1835, in honor of the White family who was living on the land. Today, White Hall maintains itself in a picturesque setting of Virginia’s wine country, offering visitors such destinations as Stinson Vineyards and Grace Estate Winery. Wyant Store sits on the main corner of town.
